Thanks all for this great forum with a lot of info!!!
I followed all the good instruction to create a bootable USB, created my cfg.ini file and set the USB drive to bottom rear port.

I can see a new PC coming up on my router for a little while but disappearing again without gett ing the right name assosiated to it in the cfg.ini.

I also have a jumper now on jb2 pins.

Still the server does only touch the USB drive once during start up and after that no more.
Error code forom the health LED says: Recovery failed...

Of course the hard drive supposed to become the system drive is never touched.

What else can be wrong or could be done to get it running?

Thanks DrW

I am not certain what USB Device you connected to the lower USB Port but it appears you followed someones set of instructions. If others have used those same instructions with success you may want to go over the process again to ensure the media you setup for booting can actually perform the boot.

I am not certain what the jumpers are about on the X510 so I can not comment on that. If its a USB Flash Drive then I have a file which explains perfectly how to create a bootable USB Flash Drive and then you would need to add the necessary files to peform the task you wish to accomplish.

Thanks for your reply!!
I tried 8 gb USB flash as well as 80gb hard drive. The reaction of the x510 was different on each drive (health led) but neither finished successfully. Not even the system drive was touched.
Any further description would help!!
