I don't mess with the Torrents but I do believe there is one or two ADD-INs for Torrents. Oh yea there is one thing about Serviio in that it uses space on your system drive if you have it do the transcoding but you can change the location to another drive for that work. I chose to use a non-pooled drive for this purpose.

Also if you want to free up some space on your system partition what you can do is edit the Windows Search Index using the advanced setting and change the location of where it will store the index file. Again in this case I use a non-pooled drive and it freed up 3 gb of space on my system drive. I run a defragging program called Perfect Disk and it use to take quite sometime to defrag a file called windows.dbl or something like that which is for the Windows Search Index. So I opted to change its storage location and now the defragging takes no time at all but best of all I picked up another 3gb of space on my system drive. \:D/

Ok, having issues again thanks to our unreliable power company.

Would a 400Va UPS be enough to soft shut down the mediasmart, or would something bigger be recommended?

OK, I don't remember it doing this last time.

Plugging the main system drive into my laptop using a SATA to USB adapter is now asking if I want to initialise the disk.

If I do this will I of lost my partition information and data?

Hi, I'm using my old thread because the problem, flashing blue light, has happened again.

I thought I'd try the chkdsk /r suggested in the first reply but this seems quite difficult. I removed a disk from my PC and replace it with a disk from the server. I'm using windows 7. It wasn't recognised and went to computer management/disk management and gave it a disk name (F) but it wants to format the drive to look at the file or even use chkdsk.

I hope when I replace the original disk it won't ask that as well, lol.

It said the file system was unrecognised.

Any help much appreciated.

I should probably add that since the first time I have a laptop with windows 8.1 and I can't see any of the shared folders so I have no access to the server and remote access doesn't work either, from PC or laptop

Hi Johnrxx99,

Lets keep your issue to one thread that way we can avoid duplication of recommendations by myself and others: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14011&p=101776#p101776

Just a FYI to all server users.
The SMART addin is IMHO a must have, it will tell you in advance of a drive going bad.
Bad drives are the number 1 reason of problems with these servers and power supply being number 2 maybe.

But, Get the FREE SMART addin and life will be a lot better.
