My server is showing critical now. I'm getting the message that the backup database needs repair.

All my drives are connected and showing as health. I've not removed or insert a drive recently.

I try the backup database repair process. It shows about 1/3 progress quickly than stops. I come back in a few hours and I see a message saying the connection to the server is lost. It is a hard wire connection though my router. I close the console and restart it. I still get the same error. I've tried restarting my server several times, but still no change.

I linked to the MS article regarding this problem. I checked the all steps. However, either they don't apply or I've tried it.

I hope someone has an answer to me. Thanks.

I have been dealing with this recently as well. I tried everything short of doing a server recovery. I finally got back up and running by changing the name of commit.dat. (details here --> rbonini.wordpress.com/2011/01/13/windows-home-server-delete-all-backups-failure/) I hope this works for you as well.

Were your backup files gone after you did this?

I can see the files are present, but when I try to restore one of the files the restore fails.

I'd suspect a hard drive with issues, try the Home Server SMART Add-In to if any drives have errors.
