My EX48X system disk has the case of the "seeking clicks" and won't boot up. I cannot get the system to get the teal - red glow to que me to use the paper-clip reset. The health light is sort of red-blue and is not blinking. Any help? The server restore does not find the server on my hard-wired network.

Another iteration where I have put another HD (w/o the system software but it did have old data) in and I cannot get the system to get the teal - red glow to que me to use the paper-clip reset. I am left with a sollid red system health light, and the same situation.

Remeber that the server has to be directly connected to a computer by wired. Nothing in between.

The EX48x servers do not need to be directly wired to the PC, this is a new requirement for the EX49x and Data Vault servers.

cschone, can you describe the LED behavior from power off to power on?

Since my post, I bought a new 2 Tb hard drive to become the system drive. When I put it in the server recognized it as new and ultimately the Version 3.0 EX480 server recovery disk's application "founf the server". It then went through about 30 minutes of initialization and declared itself finished. It also said it woould go through a series of reboots, but it only did oone. I forced a shut down and a power up. It went through some normal start up until the end where it has remained through the night with blue flashiing lights next to the system disk and one of the data disk. I only put one in.

If you forced a shutdown while WHS was doing the recovery, you may have caused problems or even damaged data. Also, you need to have all data drives connected during the Server Recovery process.

thanks so much! I have finally goten things up and running, and yes the data disks are now empty. I will get things back to a solid state and then see how I use the Amazon clinet to return data. I understand I can still use the service even though it is no longer explicitly offered.

Thanks for your understanding and help! :sanjuan:

Ouch, sorry to hear that. You may want to try connecting the drives to your PC to see if you can recover any data:
