Does anyone who is still running WHS v1 (or just an app horder) have a copy of the toolkit? I'd take either version. I thought I had a copy, but I can't seem to locate it.

Thank you!

try this site:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... FdzY29JYm8
I just installed it 2 weeks ago.

You need to read the directions.
You install it on your pc first then there is a option to publish it to the server as a addin.
It also has iso images for the three original cd's

Thank you! That's a great resource. I've got a few questions/comments now.

1. The link-to MSI won't install on a 64-bit computer, even using compatibility mode. I don't have any 32-bit computers, other than the ex490.
2. To workaround I extracted the tookkit.msi from the WHSTooklit installer and added that to the server via the add-in tab. It seems to be working there, but there aren't a whole lot of choices of tools beyond logs and resetting IIS, and command prompt. Am I missing something on the server in addition to missing the client options?
3. I had *heard* the best way to run chkdsk on the server was via the tool kit. Is this supposed to be done from the client (which I don't have) or from command prompt in the add-in, or somewhere else. Other than command prompt, I don't see any way to run chkdsk from the add-in.
4. At this point I'm thinking I should just pull the drive and run chkdsk in another desktop. Ideally I'd do a server remove, run chkdsk, format the drive, and start over. But....WHS keeps barfing on the remove at about 50% (Which is probably because there are errors.

Thanks again for sharing these files!

I believe that it was developed as a 32 bit.
So possibly you may have some issues with a 64 bit os.
You could always just plug it into the pc and and run chkdsk.
Probably the best way since you can't figure out what the drive letter is while connected to the server.
But in the console if you open settings then toolkit you could run command prompt and run it from there i guess if you can figure out the drive location.
I don't really use toolkit.
I just happened to install it prior to your post.
If it were me I would install the SMART add in and see what it reports first.
That is what most people use.
It will tell you upfront if a drive is failing.

All you asked about first was where to get the toolkit.

Fair enough :?

Seriously, you're right on all accounts. I was reading that the Toolkit was the preferred way to do the chkdsk so I didn't ask the other questions. I thought that would take care of my needs. It looks like the manual removal of the drive in question is the way to go. Glad everything is duplicated!

As for SMART -- yes. I'm using the add-in. It shows everything is good on first glance (green check marks all the way), but when you dig into the actual line items it shows pending reallocated sectors, which would probably explain why my backups keep getting corrupted! I wish the SMART tools in general (not just WHS) would do a better job of highlighting things like this on the summary page, as it's not the first time I've been caught out by an identified but not surfaced on the summary page issue.

Oh, and about the 32bit vs 64 thing. From what I can tell, there is a 64bit Vista version out there somewhere. Whether that will install on 64bit Win 10 is another question, and maybe a moot point at that.

Thanks again for sharing these resources -- they'll come in handy for other stuff. I have to two of the physical HP discs, but can't find the install version -- glad I can now grab the Iso for that one from the google share! :TR4M:

in case you re not aware SMART does have some limited disk tests in the advanced button on the toolbar.

Hey Ruben,

Hope your doing well.

That Google Drive link you posted a few years ago for the x64 WHS Toolkit seems to want a permission for the download. Could you share that WHS toolkit?

Thanks in advance.

If you need a 32 bit OS to run the toolkit, or to install earlier version of v1, you can always:

1) Buy a cheap laptop w/xp on it
2) If you have a valid key, try virtualizing XP on w10
3) Virtualize w7 and use it's xp mode
4) Try running the toolkit on a w10 OS by opening in 32 bit XP compatibility mode.

Since I have a couple other 32-bit programs, got an old Dell D630 a few years back that did the trick.
