So I got my i9 12900 an found out it can do ECC memory. Now I’m on the hunt for a MB with ECC support. Anyone have any suggestions? Asus hasn’t announced any w680 or 790 boards yet. Do I wait or just jump in? Is ECC worth it for our home servers? I think it might be but would like opinions. Also I know the 12900 is overkill but I got it anyhow. I would have waited for raptor if I know I’d get stuck looking for a MB.

T-Bone, Did you ever find a mobo?

IMHO, with multiple users in a corporate environment, definitely ECC, but in a home server, personally I think ECC is overkill.

Sorry I had a long reply for this post, it doesnt look like its been saved. Here is the short version.

Ive been hoping ASUS would release a W680 or 780 board. I haven't seen much in this line. Now I'm struggling to find something worth the money and ill be happy with. So Im stuck... I did see that MSI has a board called declassified that sounded cool but im guessing its ridiculously expensive. I need to pull the trigger soon. I was hoping the 790 boards would have some feature id really really want.

So I just ordered my x13SAE-F board and 2x32Gb ECC memory. should get here in a few days. im excited this project is finally taking off. im sad it's also the end of an era. I need to figure out what OS ill run on the new board.

Do I go with

WS2019 (Cheaper)
WS2022 (Newer)

if there is something out there better please chime in

s2k19 is proven & good for another 7 years of support. By then you'll be ready for new hardware again.

No really good reason to spend the extra on s2k22 IMHO.

Yea, me too,

Has anyone figured out a work around to get it to play nice with w11? I don't have anything running it or I'd mess around with it.
