How to install Microsoft Forefront Client Security Antivirus on Windows Server 2012 Essentials
http://www.tinkertry.com/antivirus4ws2012e/

I have tested and it works :encore: :ms:

If I understand this correctly this is not really for the server itself but for the clients connected to the server where the server monitors and protects the clients. That being said most of use already have protection on our clients and Microsoft is not quite up to speed in the Antivirus Arena to begin with. Still for those who have no protection on their clients this is better then nothing.

I got rid of all my client and server anti virus programs several years ago and have gone strictly with Microsoft products which has worked out really well. I have found nothing that the others caught that Microsoft doesn't catch and Microsoft has products for both servers and clients. Best of all they are free.

That's because you are a very cautious individual erail and do not have 12 yr olds surfing to places they do not belong.

I found this download on a quick search, I can't speak to it's cleanliness:

http://teamjimmys.com/files/OS/Forefront%20Client%20Security%20%28x86%20and%20x64%29%20-%20CD%20%28English%29/

I think I will try it on my test server. I won't mind having protection, even thought we are careful, it only takes one to give you a bad day.

Followup: 5-22-2013
I installed this on my x510 whs v1 and can report it installed with no trouble using the instructions provided at the link above.

The scans can only be set (weekly) Max which is better then daily but I would have preferred monthly. I did run a quickscan and it just scanned the OS drive and only took 8-9 mins.

Thank you to the author for this freebie! :D

Hope this helps.
