Colleagues,

I have only seen the OEM version being sold at Microsoft and at Newegg so I wonder when will we see the retail version.

Regards.

You probably have to go through volume licensing to get it (i.e. open or open select)

Seems kindof sad to me, this is microsofts solution to the home server market, WHS cost what 40-50 bucks and essentials could be hundreds or even thousands, not really for the home market at those prices.

Colleagues,

If this is true, the thought of MS only selling OEM and not retail (which I am not implying it is not), then it sucks. Has this been confirmed "officially" by Microsoft?

Regards.

What's the difference between the "system builder" and "oem" versions compared to the "retail" version?

I don't know that there is a difference, I saw what was supposed to be a retail version sold on ebay last week, for 320ish I might add, should have bid on it dangit. Anyway, I know their is the foundation version that is just for OEM builders (not for sale) but I see it didn't have a dashboard and was pretty stripped of the wizards and such.
I'm still hoping I can find it for under 300, but am in no big hurry right now. I will keep testing with the trail version ( I wonder if I could reload it again) :-k
If anybody finds it cheap somewhere, shout out or PM me.
Goodluck

I went back to Amazon to get the link it was "German tech company" through amazon.
It must have been promotional as they now sell it for $422
Glad I got mine at a good price.
