I believe with the recent release of this product that we will be seeing an influx of users to this site and I for one feel like I "know" some of you even though we have obviously never met.

I also feel that there are some very smart individuals here and I recently have had some questions come to mind that were NOT mediasmart related. My first instinct is to "ask my friends" but truly there is no specific area here.

Just a suggestion but how about a "Non Mediasmart " category?

How about calling that area "Windows Home Server General?"

Sorta like me. I had a MSS for a short time, but still have WHS.

Personally I like this site...

There are too many generic sites out there for specific "Software" apps... Thus you have microsoft's news groups...

Since we own MSS from HP, it is my only key contact to others with the same devices...

I don't mean to sound negative dude... But its almost as bad as having to google for things on the web and never finding them in other newsgroups...

Atleast I knwo that I personally can go here and get the data I need nad have knowledge of others with the same product.

That's my opinion atleast!

I actually agree and do not find your comments negative at all. As an example the "questions" that I wanted to pose were with regard to media streaming, ripping, media center, etc.

Itunes, PS3 and even some of the above have been discussed in other threads and have brought to mind questions that were not directly with regard the the "server".

I guess all "data" created by these apps would reside on the "server" so I shouldn't feel like I would be hijacking, but I do.

Just my 2 cents...

I think an Off-Topic forum could be a good idea, where non-MSS/WHS topics can be discussed, exactly along the lines of other computer questions, motorcycles, favorite recipes, etc.

The Software forum is already designed to discuss WHS along with MSS software topics, so I'm very hesitant to start any WHS-specific forums since this entire site obviously encompasses WHS.

I second (or third and fourth) that idea! An loose off-topic forum can help keep the main part clean. :)
