I use my two EX495 boxes exclusively for backing up my ~20 computers here are work. The dedupe, DE, and bare metal restoration features of WHS were what sold me on the system. And then MS killed DE and HP exited the market.

I'm looking to the future, and it appears that several companies are now offering backup appliances based on Windows Storage Server Essentials. It _sounds_ like a similar offering, and perhaps much better suited to what I want to do, but I'm not sure.

Is this the right place to ask about how similar/different WSSE is wrt to WHS? Or would you rather I go find a WSSE forum?

Thanks!

If you're referring to WSSE 2008 R2, then it's in the same family as WHS 2011 and can be discussed in that forum.

If you're referring to Windows Server 2012 Essentials, I don't yet have a forum for that but can create one if there is interest. With a $425 price tag I'm figuring most home users will not be using it.
