Post subject:  2nd WHS server ......

I have just discovered your excellent server website. I have had an old desktop running WHS 2003 for almost two years but I am still very much a newbie when it comes to any server. I have uncovered another old desktop pc and was wondering if a reader could please answer my question (and then please make any comments in plain english so that I can understand).

Question:
Will WHS 2011 install and function properly with the following components:
1. Intel DG965SS board
2. Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.87GHz CPU
3. 4GB RAM
4. WDC WD1600JD-22Hbbo 160GB hdd (of course + additional storage hdd's)

Than you very much!!
Best regards.

Drivers would be the only reason that it wouldn't work. WHS 2011 was just windows server 2008 with a little more GUI on top.
The only way to know for sure would be to test all the drivers you can find for that board.
Let us know how it goes.
Good Luck and enjoy....

If it is win 7 64 bit, then you are close. WHS 2011 is a 64 bit OS which is why you can use larger then 2tb drives.
Good Luck, let us know if it installs and works.....

Thank you! That is good news. I should be doing the install soon now that camping season is almost over. I will post whether successful or unsuccessful.
