Just re-built my WHS 2011 with a free re-claimed Intel server, SC5650 chassis, S3420GPLX board with Xeon 3470 CPU, 8 MB DDR3 and a 6-bay expandable hot-swap cage with RAID daughter board. I moved my drive and data into the new gears.
I think this is still over-kill for a WHS. But since it is free, it just frees another home PC. The upgrade is the hot-swap drive cage, along with the RAID. My previous WHS case is the Antec 900. It is a great case, but I do not like the way that drives are mounted from inside the cage.
I think the setup can keep my up for at least a couple of years.
