Hey there, I've just ordered all the parts to my first server build apart from a pci sata card. I need a card which has 4 internal sata ports and can handle 4tb drives. Any suggestions? I will post all my parts for the build later when I'm on a pc and not phone. Thanks |

There are quite a few cards available I use a Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 in a WHS2011 Server that I was able to run 4TB Drives with. The card actually supports up to 8 drives. To connect the card to your drive you would need a Forward Breakout Cable MV8 Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6816101358 Forward Breakout Cable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6816116097 The only thing I recall doing with these cards is I had updated the drivers but the drivers that shipped with the card worked with WHS2011. Also I installed Stablebit Drive Pool which works very well with WHS2011 and it also made migration of my storage pool very simple when I upgraded the server software to WS2012E. You can review my hardware by reading the tag below which I have been running now for 2 years. Now there are other cards so take your time and review your possibilities so that you can chose the best card for your purposes especially if your looking for a RAID Solution. |
