Hi

Wondered if someone could help. I am trying to determine what the difference is between setting up two disks as one volume, mirrored - raid 1 I believe. And what the backup function from the dashboard does in whs 11?

Thanks
Demetri

A mirrored volume would constantly duplicate the contents of one drive to another giving full fault tolerance, whereas a backup would take a periodic snapshot of whatever drive and contents you specify.

Thanks, I understand the whole mirrored scenario i.e. it duplicates the data however what I dont know is if a drive fails or the server itself. Can the remaining working drive be removed and read from an other pc and therefore access all the data that was duplicated??

Thanks in advance for the help!

Yes it can, in both scenarios. In a mirrored drive, the server should continue to function though.
