The only download for v1.0.3.3 (the latest version I can find) of BDBB is a .msi file. If I understand right, that will install on WHS v1, but not on WHS 2011. Is that right?
Does that mean there's no BDBB for WHS 2011, or have I just not found it yet?

Has Alex decided there's no need for BDBB on WHS 2011 (perhaps because Microsoft included a server backup tool in WHS 2011), or was it "too hard"? Pity if there isn't one, as I'd like to have both my servers' (v1 and 2011) PC Backup databases handled the same way...

(and if the .msi will install on 2011, does anyone know whether it will work?)

There's no need, Server Backup in WHS 2011 does the same thing.

Thanks Alex.
I see that the WHS 2011 Server Backup exposes the "Client Computer Backups" folder nicely, so backing it up is quite simple. When it comes to restoring, I seem to remember that BDBB would capture (parts of) the registry, although I also seem to remember that the requirement to do this may have gone away with one of the various WHS v1 updates, and in any event, 2011 may work differently in this regard.
Do you now whether it is safe to restore the WHS 2011 Client Computer Backup folder as an entity on its own, or would I have to restore (part of) the registry with it, or would I have to restore the entire system?
My objective is to be able to roll back the PC Backup database without rolling back the rest of the machine (like I can using BDBB on v1).

It's just another folder that can be backed up and restored, you don't need any registry info, the client backup information is all in the database.

It's about time Microsoft stop stashing critical stuff that has nothing to do with an individual computer into the registry. The deep embedding of itself into the host operating system is still one of the biggest PITA with Exchange
