I have a WHS 2011 machine that I need to recover "client" files from. The server is running and has no hardware issues, but I am unable to connect a client machine to retrieve the files I am needing. My question is, can I somehow recover these files without using a client machine? The server is running with no issues, so can i recover the files locally on the server without connecting a client / windows machine? Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Someone a bit more long in the tooth than I will have to answer you on this one. I seem to remember something about the drive extender terminal backups are not in a traditional data format. So trying to find them by doing a RDP into the server probably wont yield much. But I could be wrong since you are using whs2011 not V1. Are you using something like Drive Bender? If so that would most likely change the file formats too.

Approaching this from another angle, what OS are you using on the terminal that you are trying to reconnect with. I keep a old xp laptop around just in case I have a problem with a newer OS on v1. Maybe if your using a newer OS you could try setting up the connector with a w7/64 terminal?

Not sure how much help I'm offering but Id like to know how your getting past the issue...
