I have a HP Media Smart Server EX490 which has crashed and is beyond repair. I have taken my hard drives out to see if they are ok and used a IDE/SATA and to see whether I can get my data off the hard drives. I can see the hard drives and that they are full but, I am unable to see any content in windows explorer.

Does any one know how i can get my data off the drives?

Kind Regards
T

Welcome, sorry to hear.
The best thing about WHS any version is if all else fails you can get your data (as long as the drives are ok) by placing them into a usb to sata dock or connecting them inside a desktop.

You can see the drive but to see the contents you have to adjust the "view" files and folders settings, as the are set to hidden.
On windows 7 lower left you start to type folder and it will pop up with the files and folders icon.

You have to un-hide files and folders to see them.

I believe the real files are in folders under the DE main folder.

Good Luck
