Hi All, Loooong time no post! I got around to loading WHS2011 on my 490 today, and was a little bummed that ShareMaster on my Win7 box was not working. For those of you who don't know, ShareMaster is a desktop gadget to easily access the shares on the server. So I wrote up a little how to on getting those to work again... As I am not the type who would decompile the widget and fix it properly, I took the lazy man's approach. Anyone with a working knowledge of sharing and Windows I am sure has already done this, but here it goes anyway... Enjoy! To Fix the issues with ShareMaster not working with WHS2011, simply add the shares it is looking for. 1. Music - works 2. Photos - Add a photos share name under the sharing for the pictures folder in addition to the pictures share name, everyone full share permissions. 3. Videos - works 4. Software - Create a folder named Software under D:\ServerFolders and share it out everyone full control. 5. Your User Folder -Create a Users folder under Documents in D:\ServerFolders share it out everyone full control. Add a new folder under that with user names. 6. Public - create new folder named Public and share it out for everyone, full control. This will fix your ShareMaster widget to work with WHS2011 |
