Hi

I have an X510 with WHS2011 installed which has been working fine since I got it. However, now I have got a drive caddy which supports esata and I was wanting to use it to extend the space on my server.

I installed the SiI3531 drivers that I could find on the silicon image site, and that made the unknown mass storage device in device manager change from the yellow question mark. However, when I plug in my esata cable nothing happens...

I confirmed that it's working by connecting the drive to my pc, which correctly brings up the drive and lets me see it in explorer.

Does anyone know what I need to do to enable eSata on the x510 in WHS2011? I'm planning on using the port multiplier features later, so was wanting to make sure the eSata works.

Do I have the right driver? The one on the Silicon Image site seemed to be a raid driver, so I wasn't 100% sure that it'd support the esata.

Thanks

Matt

When you downloaded the driver did you make sure you downloaded the 64 bit Driver because WHS2011 is a 64 bit OS.

Yep, I got the '3531_x64_w7_1.5.20.1_logo.zip' file from here:

http://www.siliconimage.com/support/searchresults.aspx?pid=80&cat=3

http://www.siliconimage.com/docs/3531_x64_w7_1.5.20.1_logo.zip

I hope that this is the right one, it talks about raid more than a specific sata controller driver though, which is why I am wondering if that wasn't the correct driver for the esata part of it...

I have used quite a few Silcon Image Drivers in my WHSv1 and 2011 Servers and each of the drivers make quite a few RAID Refrences yet my applications are centered around JBOD.
