I have a WHS 2011 system that is working perfectly. I have so much storage space that I would like to remove 2 drives for use in other systems. I have 2 questions:
1: Is there any way to identify a drive SN to the drive letters in the system?
2: I don't see any way to ask the WHS 2011 OS to remove the two drives? They are 2 TB drives with about 300 MB on one and 100 MB on the other. I cannot find any proceedure to have the OS to remove the drives by moving the data, if it is important, to anther drive.

Thank you for your response!

The Home Server Smart add-in will show you the logical name of your disks - in my MediaSmart they show as

\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE0
\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE1

etc... - and the 0-4 correspond to the slots in my MediaSmart. Not all motherboards are so easy and consistent so your milage my vary (YMMV)

Inside the Server Folders and Hard Drives section of the WHS console, if you look on the Server Folders tab you can select a folder/share and there is a Move the Folder action - that will move the folder off the drive you wish to remove onto some other drive.
