Are you running WHS v1 or WHS 2011? Since you say Dashboard, I'm going to guess 2011 (since in v1 it was called the Console).

Either way, there is a Windows Home Server Storage service (in v1 it's Windows Home Server Storage Manager). Try restarting that service. If it doesn't work, you can just try rebooting the server, which will restart all of the services anyway. It sounds like the storage service just didn't pick up the fact that the drives are there. Usually when the server detects them, you get an alert in the Dashboard that says new hard drives are installed and ready to be formatted and brought into the fold.

WHS 2011, I've restarted the server and the dashboard still doesn't see the added drives. I've gotten the notice about the new drives, but they must have been formatted previously, (I pulled them from a NAS that was sitting unused). I tried to set them up as server backup but no dice. Could it be because the main drive is the original 1tb hdd, and the added drives are each 750gb?

That's not unusual, just go into Disk Management under Server manager and initialize them, create the partitions and format. It will recognize them. If they aren't new I suspect they were not formatted for windows since they came from a NAS.

I has to delete the volumes, then format them, & now they've shown up, thanks.
