I am unable to setup remote access. The wizard fails during the router setup. I have tried upgrading my router (D-Link DIR-655) to the latest firmware and I still have no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if any more info is needed.

Are you certain your Remote Access is not working. Sometimes WHS will complain it can not setup Remote Access only to find out it works just fine. Have you checked it from a remote location to see if its working or not? My WHS2011 servers complain about my router but I have various port manipulations set because I run multiple servers from one internet connection.

I never worry about WHS v1 or WHS2011 complaints about Remote Access until I verify its working or not from a remote location.

Thanks, I set up port forwarding according to a guide I found. Still didn't get through the wizard. I found a microsoft document on setting up the router for remote access and decided to follow it's directions and disable the port forwarding and set them up as virtual server The wizard still didn't like it but the document said it should be set up if configured this way. I took your advice and decided to just try setting up the domain and testing it and it seems to work fine.

Great to hear and continue to ignore the warnings and alerts about Remote Access in future. As they say Trust but Verify but in this matter its specifically towrds Remote Access.
