just got the cable and installed it, when booting the bios its gets stuck at the auto detecting AHCI port 0, it doesnt even let me inside the bios when i press del it just gets stuck, any ideas?

Sure sounds like the system disk is toast, did you try and do a chkdsk on that disk with another machine? What does it do when you pull all disks out and try to boot? Does it continue and boot from the SMI? If it is the system disk you will have to do a system restore on a new disk and shouldn't lose your data.

i changed the settings in the bios setting the drives to ide and it booted normally and was able to install and configure the server, my question is if i change it back to ahci, if it would freeze again in the post stage and if not if it would screw up the os
