Hey all,

I'm trying to install WHS 2011 on my EX470 and for some reason when I boot the install DVD, it doesn't load setup and instead goes into this "WHS_Recovery_Server.exe" mode!!

I've used this DVD on a different EX470 and it worked fine.

I even used a USB install, and same thing happened!

I'm trying to install it on a fresh 2TB HDD...please help!

Yes, it does happen. The only way I know how to get out of that is to have a video cable and change the boot sequence to allow it to boot from your usb key or a dvd. Somebody else may have an easier method but I don't know it. I have several cables, so it has never been a serious problem to me and I've seen that happen on a few machines. What I have seen happen is the SMI area gets a higher priority boot sequence than anything else. Insure you are putting the key in the bottom usb in the back of the machine.

I think I got it!

You need to connect the DVD-Rom to the last USB on the back...I did that and it booted into the setup!!

I can't understand how this makes sense...but it worked! I tried everything...and the same DVD just worked via the same DVD-Rom...just the change in USB!

The bottom rear USB port is the first boot device, bottom hard drive is second, on-board flash recovery image is last.
