I've been considering buying an Asus Transformer Prime but it keeps slipping my mind that it's not a regular Windows laptop where I can just install programs

I'll mainly use it for web browsing during TV ad breaks etc. but dropping £400 on one I'd also like to know it can do other things e.g. work (MS Office) if I need to or as a music source at parties (I have a Logitech Duet and all the music is on my EX490). I believe there are some good office apps compatible with MS documents but will I be able to access these files on my EX490 easily?

Should I really just be looking at a small laptop instead?

Wait 6 months and get a lovely Windows 8 tablet!

That's a really good shout, though whether any of the hardware will be good as the Transformer remains to be seen. I've been lusting after the "Transformer 2" for months

You could always go for a slate, like this pricey beauty.

Many people have used that Samsung device for development, and it runs Windows 8 really well.
