Great update, love the exclude filter and the import of previous settings, problem the easiest most painless upgrade I've ever done for anything! :)

Hi, I really love the Remote Notification 1.5.0.4 add-in!

Unfortunately though I get a failed service everytime I boot.

Event ID: 7022
"The Remote Notification Service service hung on starting."

The service eventually starts, but the failed service beep and notification is annoying.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Just a followup that this issue has been resolved for Squuiid and the one other user who encountered the issue. The fix will be included in the next version that is released, until them contact me if you experience the issue.

Apologies if this isnt the right place to ask this question (and I have posted this on wegotserved too, so doubly sorry!).

I've just added RemoteNotifications to my HP ex490. I installed it before I noticed the conlict with LightsOut Beta .1440, so uninstalled both and installed LO .1443 and RemoteNotifications again.

However, I dont see RemoteNotificiations in the Settings box on the ex490.

I do see an error message when starting the console (sometimes) that says there is an issue with "HomeServerConsoleTab.RemoteNotification.dll" and to reinstall. I have done this a number of times and still not working.

Any ideas..?

cheers

Hi Simon,

First thing to try is to clear all the settings for Remote Notification:
- Close and reset the Home Server Console
- Log on to the server via Remote Desktop
- Stop the Remote Notification service (right-click "My Computer" and select Manage, then browse to the Services menu)
- Delete the settings.xml and RemoteNotificationDB.db files from D:\folders\{00979F7B-36E8-4121-8B80-C399B161DFD9}
- Restart the Remote Notification service and then the console

If that doesn't work:
- Log on to the server via Remote Desktop
- Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Home Server\logs
- Sort the log files by Modified so you see the most recently modified files
- Send me the most recently modified HomeServerConsole*.log file
- Sort by filename and send me any RemoteNotification*.log files

You can email me the files: yakuza AT mediasmartserver DOT net

Thanks Alex,

I did the actions you suggested, still not working so will send you the log files.

I did note that there was no "settings.xml" file in D:\folders\{00979F7B-36E8-4121-8B80-C399B161DFD9}.

cheers

Great, send the logs, and it would also be helpful to know what other Add-Ins you have installed.

Hi Simon,

I got the logs and it appears that there is still a conflict. Can you please verify you have the 1433 version of Lights Out installed? If so, then log onto the server via Remote Desktop, browse to C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server\ and see if NLog.dll exists in that directory. If it does, I recommend you uninstall both Lights Out and Remote Notification, and then delete the NLog.dll file if it still exists. You can then reinstall both add-ins.

Alex,

Yes, .1443 of LightsOut is installed. (you said .1433 above..?)

Just removed it and RemoteAlert.

I have Advanced Admin Console, Disk Managegemnt and WebFolders4WHS.

Just reinstalled the RemoteNotication add-in and I got an error saying that Service "Remote Notification Service" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privaledges to start system services.

Just rebooting ....!

cheers

Sorry, 1443 is correct. Did you look for NLog.dll in the WHS program files dir?

Alex,

After a reboot, I have installed Remote Notification ok.

Will see what happens when I put LightsOut back on.

Thanks for your help.

Alex,

Yes, it was there and I deleted it.

I have re-installed LO and it still appears to work.

Thanks again.

cheers
