I have an issue, that my laptop rarely is being backed up.

My backup window is pretty big, this to allow all family members machines to be backed up, since all have different habits of usage, the window is between 10am and 9pm.

I normally connects my machine at 6,30pm, and hence there should be plenty of time for a backup, but mostly I start the backup manually after 2-3 days.

Anu suggestions on this?

Thanks

Hi, yes sort of.

What I see as an issue is that the computer shows up every day, within the backup window, but still there are no backup performed, even after several days.

I would expect the server to jump right at the computer, as soon as it sees it within the backup window?

WHS schedules a time for each PC to be backed up, it's not as smart about timing as you'd like from your example. You might actually be better served by shortening the backup window to a period that more likely ensures your system will be available for backup.

Simple things you probably know about, do make sure you have the "Wake from sleep to backup" option selected when you installed WHS on the PC, and that the lid isn't closed.

How does WHS schedule the backups ??

Is it via some in-built schedule, or does it just use task scheduler ??

There's got to be a way to manually kick of an automated backup.

My understanding is that it's a hidden scheduled task, worked out between client and server, you may be able to learn a little bit more from the Backups whitepaper.
