What if WHAT were installed on an EX47x box?

If you refer to the EX48x software the high-level answer would be that it would not work as the EX47X uses a different chipset and processor than the EX48x.

But I see no reason that the higher level (application) software would not function as both run the same MS WHS operating system.

Also, the licensing would be messed up, as the OS image and BIOS have different licensing info than the EX47* models.

I see this as a big question with people wanting the same console updates as the new server. I think HP is missing out on a huge money making oppurtunity here. People that are not happy with the hardware update will most likely buy a software update for their existing server.

I would think that Add-in would be able to be moved from the 48x to the 47x. I wouldnt see that they would be tied to a lot of authentication.

To the best of my knowledge that's pulled out of Windows, I'd suspect a possible CPU driver bug...
