Hi All, I hope there's still someone out there that can help...

The PC that I had connected to my Windows Home Server died, and after setting up a new PC, I could no longer access the Server and the files on it. It had some sort of connection failure that I could not figure out. So I took the drives out of the Server and directly connected them to my PC, thinking that I might be able to access the files that way, but that didn't work.

So my next step was to put the drives back into the Server and continue trying to figure out how to connect with the new PC. Unfortunately, after doing that, the Server won't boot anymore. The Health light on the front was initially blinking when trying to boot, but now it's a steady red, indicating an operating system failure.

A few questions...
. Could I have damaged the drives by attaching them to a PC and trying to access them?
. If so, is there a way to get them back in working order so I can boot the server back up?
. If I can't get the OS on the main drive, is there a way to access my files on the other drive
. In the above, I'm assuming that the user files are on a different drive than the OS, is that correct? And is the OS drive always the bottom-most drive?

If anyone has any suggestions on how to resolve this issue, or pointers to specific posts on how to resolve this, I'd really appreciate it. I have decades of family photos and other important files that I really hope that I can recover.
