I could find out the hard way, but for a hard drive you have consistently used to backup the HP Mediasmart server shared files, is it a problem to have other backup files from other software on this hard drive? I was thinking of having a single hard drive (external eSATA) with both WHS/HP Medismart shares as well as backups of my photo library made by my photo software. Thanks in advance |

I use a 6TB external USB drive to back up my WHS shares from my EX490, I also have other files on there from my Win10 machine. Select to add the disk without formatting if you want to use a drive that already has data on that you don’t want to lose (assuming it’s formatted with a windows compatible file system). |

I simply went ahead and added those outside files onto the HDD and crossed my fingers. Last backup worked well. |

Yup, you should be fine. I did the same, but using a 10tb drive to back up my server files. |
