I have an old mediasmart ex475. Win 7 was the last OS that could connect to it.
I know have win 10 boxes and macs

I'd like to revive this unit if possible. I have 4 x 500GB drives.

Are there any open source software that could be used to revive this piece of hardware?

Or is this just ready for the dump? Is it now obsolete?
cheers

Have you tried to re-install the connector from the server instead of the CD's.

I tried to install the connector from the server but it would allow. Is there a version i should be looking for?
Can i upgrade that version from the server OS?

Everything i read said that win 7 was the last windows OS that could use this machine. Clearly that is wrong.
Is powerpack 3 an upgrade or a new purchase?

I have one windows 7 machine that i could use to reconnect to determine my specs.

I'd love to resurrect this awesome server.

Cheers

try in your browser
http://HPSERVERLX:55000
Where HPSERVERLX would be your server name.
If success then uninstall on the pc the hp app and the connector app.
Make sure on the hp app that sometimes you may get two of them then delete them both and the connector app.
and install from your server.
Each server version has it's own connector version.
The install cd does have a older connector version and does try to connect to the server to check for updates but at times it will fail and install a mismatched connector which will not work.

If you have all the CD's I would just start fresh with a reset or recovery. But the process above will need to be done each time the server updates because the connector will be out of sync with the server,

FYI,
If you are win10 64bit then the hp app installed on the pc will have (64) in the name
