I have been using the readynas rn-316 for a couple years for replacement of my ex490, Which I still use for redundant backups.
But I am ready to discontinue the ex490.
Here is a link to some feature videos.

http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... -RN700.pdfI don't care for the backup app so I use easus to do on the clients and store them on readynas.
Only caveat I found is bay two from the top is the redundant drive bay.
So from the start I suggest to use at least a 3-4tb or larger drive.
You can mix and max drive sizes on it but you don't get much more storage till all the drives are of equal size or larger.
Currently I have 4- 4tb wd reds. I am adding a 4th 5th wd red today.
It also has a esata port They list a expansion module for more drive bays but good luck finding one.
But I tested a RaidTower 5 bay I have and it works fine.
