I'm new to mediasmart servers form HP. I've searched the forum and the internet but didn't find installation software. I'm installing used drives form an old computer and trying to get it running. Does anyone have the installation software that they would be willing to share?

Or... is there other alternate software that will work?

And if so, do you have a link on instruction for installing?

You either have to obtain the specific server disk sets for your server model or you can install other operating systems like WHS2011, WS2012E or something like FreeNAS but doing so is a bit tricky if you want to install it blind or through the use of other computers but easier to do with a debug board and external optical drive. A debug board will provide you with a VGA output which will make the process easier.

With other operating systems you will run into some driver issues and will have to deal with the LEDs not functioning properly but there is a solution for WHS2011 and WS2012E. While there maybe a solution for FreeNAS its not something I am familiar with.

I appreciate your response. It is a steep learning curve. I've read so much about different options for when you don't have the install discs, you kinda broke it down into a summary, very good. Are most debug boards created equal by pretty much providing for the intended function or is there one that you recommend?

Thanks again!

The one I recommend and use is the VOV Technologies DEBUG Board, I actually own several of them. For more information check out the link below:
