Ok, finally got it working. I had to get the HPControls.dll file from the HP Media Smart Server 2.5 Update. Once I copied that file to the

c:\Program Files\Windows Home Server folder and ran regsvr32.exe/restarted, the setting screen was available. Don't know if I can legaly post the HPControls.dll file here or make a install package with it.....

But I'm sure that most of us here can use google to do the same thing I did. :o

Goldfinger,
How is this working? Any glitches? Just thought I'd let you test drive it a bit before I decided.
Thanks

Great workaround! I just did 3.0 factory reset for my EX475 as I wanted to start from a clean desk. Before starting the installation I saved HPControls.dll and after the installation finished I returned the dll back to c:\Program Files\Windows Home Server, did the registry edit and installed Online backup without any problems.

I already tested Amazon S3 file restore and managed to restore my photos folder (about 1GB).

Another usefull add-in was the WHS BDBB that allowed me to save and restore my client PC backups.

Ahhh, I was looking at your posts only. I see this was a team effort. I was looking at that cloudberry. Re read the posts like 4 times, it's the first link in the first post.

Thanks again!

New to the forum, and starting with questions right away.

I'm using a EX490, so luckily no updating towards 3.0 required. I realy would like to use the online backup feature, even if it never was part of the EX490. All I'm missing is the dll...
I also wondered if the add-in also supports encryption of backups.

Thank you all for the great board and especially this thread.

If you go to HP's website and search for downloads for the EX480/Ex485. On the windows 2003 server link you'll find an update for 2.5.
Download this and then search through the file using winrar or powerarchiver (which is the software I use) and the .dll file is there!
(you need to use winrar etc as they allow searching through installable files like .cabs, .msi's )

enjoy

Mark

I've been trying to find a way to get around using an add-in (although now that cloudberry released their new one, I might give it a try). I have heard that there are ways to install Jungle Disk Desktop Edition directly in the server through remote access, but have not been able to do so. I have tried to run the 32-bit desktop edition .msi through remote desktop and an error pops up. Anyone successful in getting JD to work this way? Thanks.

If you really want to go for the HP Amazon S3 app, and not something supported like Cloudberry you can simply use Orca and drop the offending check. (right click, drop row, save and close)

Gotta love Orca. Worked for me. Thanks.

Thanks for this guys. I had the same issue. Couple of things to clarify, that I did.

I launched the MediaSmart Server Update 2.5 download from HP, let it error out and before closing the pop-up searched for the extracted .msi. Which in my case was located here:

C:\Users\danf\AppData\Local\Temp\{81CEDA62-AD3A-4BBE-8952-D93890FCE754}\HP MediaSmart Server 2.5 Update.msi

When running regsrv32.exe after placing the .dll in C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server it (regsrv32.exe "C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server\hpcontrols.dll") I received an error about the registration service, so i also copied the .dll to System32, but not sure if it need to be copied there or not.

Actually this doesn't completely work for me. In the HP Online Backup I'm only able to see the Account Setup, Scheduling and Restore tabs. I'm unable to see status or any proper Restore interface.

Is this the case with other also, just able to see a partial interface, even with the HPControls.dll in place?
