So as the beta draws to a close, what are you thoughts about a crippled Vail?

The more I think about it, the more comfortable I am getting with using some kind of RAID to replace DE. I assume that MS will bundle a software RAID configuration tool, and it will support hardware RAID, too. I have a more open mind today than I did when they first announced.

IMHO any RAID configuration tool will be left to the OEM or end user. This late in the release cycle I can't imagine they would be able to implement a reliable, generic software RAID configuration utility that is user friendly enough for the average consumer.

So I haven't been following Vail at all. With DE removed, Vail has zero data redundancy in it?

Data redundancy will be up to the builder/OEM. So say Tranquil sells a Vail box, Tranquil will implement the redundancy solution. Probably RAID 1 or 5.

Looks like MS is about to Epic Fail Vail if it keeps making bad decisions. I guess Vail (or WHS??) didnt make an appearance at CES at all

I saw that article. I read an article on wegotserved that said that was pretty much the only presence that WHS team had there. Kinda sad for us WHS users
