Post subject:  WHS RC 2011 to Final

I'm familiar with WHS from having an EX490 and running the Vail Public Beta inside of a VM. I have built a new server running Server 2008 R2, however I realize this platform is not what I need. So I have a few questions for those running Vail / WHS 2011?

1. Are the drives actually formatted as NTFS now?
If this is the case then in theory I should be able to unplug my non-system drives when the final version is released.

2. If I install a codec pack will that enable more formats to be streamed?

3. How is the stability of the RC?
I know everyone says not to use this on a production system but server 2008 is just not cutting it. It took me a good deal of time to setup certain features, plus I particularly miss the add-in support.

I used Lights-Out, alot with WHS V1. I currently have to manually power on or shutdown my server. With this being the case, I obviously forget.

My Current Server Build:

Case - Haf 912 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233&Tpk=haf%20912

RAM - Muskin 4gb DDR3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226094
CPU - AMD Athlon II X2 250 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103903
PSU - OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017

I used to have a couple of HP MSS's.
But I am now running WHS2011RC. I did use WHS2011 Beta, and it did have issues that made it untrustworthy, as it was beta.
The RC is working really good. It has some very minor issues, but it shows they are very close to the RTM version,
The main issue I discovered is that you want to schedule the backups of the server at times that are completely clear foe the time frame where the clients backup. Otherwise there will be errors for both due to incomplete backups.

1. Yes, the drives are NTFS. I have 2 1TB drives that are used for the system and for client backups. I have mirrored the system partitions and striped the client backups partitions using the built in drive management of Server 2008 R2 and the drive properties are showing NTFS. The 2 TB drive used for server backup is also showing NTFS.

2. Don't know.

3. See above comments.
