ADS DE like functionality. Set for first Beta release on 2/21/211. Go to: http://www.drivebender.com/ One trend of thought I have seen is that in essence it takes a large team of coders to accomplish this. Iv'e not seen the SDK and don't have the time or current talents to poke around however, I think just a couple of talented coders and a dedicated group of testers could produce a DE replacement for WHS 2011. Thanks for sharing! If either of these products turn out to provide true DE-like functionality, and they don't cost an arm and a leg upon their release, then maybe I could reconsider my position on WHS 2011. It'll be interesting to see how well they perform in the RTM release of WHS 2011. A few months of folks trying them out should give a pretty good feel on whether these are robust products. This is actually interesting, because this version apparently will work on ANY modern version of Windows. So will see how robust it is once the beta comes out in 9 days ... |

I think its interesting and I did happen to look at and bookmark both links for future review. I honestly hope they are successful and then it will be like IN YOUR FACE MICROSOFT but to get DE functionality may not be as easy as it sounds so good luck to those who jump on the beta bandwagon and I honstly do hope they success in getting it to work becaus it would make WHS 2011 a more interesting and robust product. |

I had originally passed on Vail but like many of you, this development makes it worth my time to install Vail on a Test Server and help test. As you point out, if it works on "Windows" then that is a significantly larger market than our little WHS niche. Given the very very exspensive options to obtain DE like functionality in Vail, I would gladly pay around $50 for this or another DE replacement. |
