Grey,

I think there may have been a couple of us who have noted this drive light issue. In my case, I have three drives and the Drive Bay #2 light (second from the bottom has been the flaky one.) I've swapped my drives out and am watching for a recurrence. Try rebooting the server. My bet is that it will come right back - mine always has. Let us know fi this fixes it and/or if it goes out again.

Grey, ditto what TechVet said. I believe it's a software bug and have reported it to HP, they are supposed to get back to me. A reboot has resolved it for me. To confirm it's a software bug and not a chassis problem, look at the LED Settings Tab and the graphic should match the status of what the server is doing. If they match, it means the hardware is fine.

Yea, I looked at the led tab before I read this and rebooted. It matched and a rebbot "fixed it".

Before the reboot though the "console" from my wireless lappy was not functioning.

Thanks,

Just went through a reboot and had a drive light go out. This time it was Bay #3. Every previous time it was Bay #2, but I had swapped the Bay 2 and Bay 3 drives to see if the error was linked to the bay or the drive. In case it matters, the drive in question is a WD Green 1 TB series - model WD10EADS. The WD10EACS does not seem to be affected.

Mine aren't tied to specific drives, they just start blinking in strange ways. I had bays 2&4 blinking with 1&3 dark.

Just purchased a X510 and received a lot of helpful advise from Bodog across on WGS. I have migrated everything across from my EX475 to X510 but the Health indicator light on the X510 does not reflect the status shown on the console (or in the system tray), I have a red indicator on my console at present due to a few things being out of date but the X510 health lights are still blueish (not as nice a blue as on the Ex475!) Anyway the point is that it is certainly not red; I have also tried to raise an issue on the HP site but their web form does not recognise the HP Storage Works X510 as a valid product so cannot raise a support call, I will try and call them on the phone during office hours

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just want to check the obvious. Have you made sure the option to do this is ticked in the console?
