If you get it installed, let us know if the Mac improvements are helpful.

And also the included Twonky High CPU fix; does it make things better on the Datavault or MSS? As this is the same fix the EX47/48 users will get; be good to get some feedback to see if the 3.0 update is worth the wait!

Unfortunately I'm now experiencing the high CPU utilization with Twonky, where previously I was not. It appears to be "sticking" on a specific folder of videos, though the Twonky logs report that they added the files the config page shows it to be stuck reading them in. The video files themselves play fine, and as I mentioned they did not cause any problems prior to this new version. I'll continue investigating...

on my Data Vault

It has been sitting at Launching Installer for 20 minutes now.

I have not been given the option to click next yet.

I had a similar problem.
It seems that the permission to Run message window pops up and disappears before you can click okay.
I got around it by running the console in a RDP session - then I could click the Run button and it completed in seconds.

When I was talking with HP the other day to get some info on the Ex495 the tech said that 3.0 added a full console for the mac users that pretty much allowed mac users to do what windows users are able to over the console.

Is this the patch he was talking about or was when version 3.0 came out did it add the mac console?

This worked for me also.

I've uncovered the cause of the Twonky issue for me, it's a single video file that seems to lock things up. I've posted on the Twonky support forums.

well I should have waited but noooo
so I installed the file using RDP and now everything seems so much slower and seems like server is working constantly.

When I log out and go back into the console from my laptop, the CPU Utilization is at 40ish% then drops down to about 2-6%
Anybody else notice that their server is running a higher CPU % rate?

This feature http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2009/09/14/review-hp-mediasmart-server-ex490-and-ex495/ was delivered as part of 3.0, they are including an RDP client to give you access to the server console on the Mac.

I'm also having significant issues with the Remote Media Streaming feature now, files take forever to start, and the quality is really suffering. I believe I've narrowed this down to a difference in the way Twonky is installed, if anyone else sees this behavior with Remote Music Streaming please let me know and I'll see if my resolution works for you.

My summary of what has been written so far boils down to 3 things:

1) It's a shame that HP has missed all of the other MSS bugs in this update (sleep issue, broken links, etc.)
2) It would seem that some additional Beta testing was in order before releasing this Patch to the wild.
3) Is there anyway to ensure that we don't get this update if we don't want it?

For those folks wishing for the 3.0 upgrade, be careful of what you wish for. You may be better off with the status quo for a bit longer.

I've documented my experiences with both Twonky issues, as well as how to fix them. I hope this helps anyone else experiencing the problem.

I'll read through the documentation of yakuza, but as TechVet stated, i'd also rather not get this update!

I can understand that, TechVet and matthi, especially since it's a manual download and cannot be uninstalled.
