Will do. I expect to receive the CPU in a week or two. They where out of stock...

They are still pushing the delivery date forward. 16/3 is the new preliminary date for the CPU. :(

I did however get the 4GB RAM and installed it yesterday. I like what I got out from it. My X510 feels a lot snappier and I think I will get good results transcoding movies when I get the new CPU. It's working fine today but I guess it will work great after the CPU upgrade. :)

BTW... The new Air Video (iOS) version they released today are a killer. 1080P mkv's starts almost instantly with the new higher bitrate (5120kbit/s).
It's also nice to be able to send the video to my Apple Tv via Airt Share (I have 4.3 in my iPad).

Just canceled my CPU order and placed an order for a Q9550S (65W) on amazone.de. They had them in stock so I should have it within a week. :)

I got a Q9400S last Friday and have done some small tests now. Nothing major but transcoding and converting movies are working really great now.
I have a couple of Popcorn Hours and after the CPU and RAM upgrade I don't even see the buffering screen when starting a movie, not even for 1080P high bitrate DTS-MA mkv's. I'm really happy with the upgrade. :)

Anyone found Mushkin 4GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400), or similar in the UK ??

I can't find anything in the UK, and NewEGG don't sell internationally :(

Does the X510 motherboard support the Q9550S right off the bat? And which RAM did you end up buying?

This entire topic is about the upgrade, if you read it you will learn. If you have specific questions, please post them.

The problem is the memory you are trying to use. You need 800 mhz, PC6400, non-registered, non buffered, plain old DDR2 memory. Like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231300 but any of this type will work.

Newegg had a 4 gig stick of RAM for $54 last week so I took the plunge.

Big improvement in the console much much much faster to navigate around.

The sever gives of the impression that the full 3.99GIG is available. Not sure how true this really is as my understanding is 32bit systems only should give you 3.2~.

Anyway, good update to the system. :encore:

I also upgraded mu EX495 to 4GB (the Mushkin PC2-6400) RAM. I have noticed that with WHS 2011 the TermServer session / console is much faster. I dont see my CPU pegged- so I cant justify upgrading that yet.

Plus there are NO drivers yet for the hard drive lights or system health light (blinking blue) under WHS / SBS 2011. So basically I have a stylish unit with limited features.

I have used Kingston KVR800D2N6/4G and it works well.

One module: 240pin PC2-6400 CL6 DIMM non-registered (Unbuffered DDR2)
