Do these models drive bay lights follow 1st gen or 2nd gen ?

1st gen are multi-colored while the 48x are just blue.

The EX47x Series have blue lights similar to that of the EX48x series.... Additionally in Alex's review he notes that the drive color lights have not changed and are still blue.

I don't know where you think that the EX47x series had white lights, unless you are thinking about the LX series which is a seperate family all together.

The EX47x were "blue", while the EX48x are "aqua", more of a white/blue. The EX49x is the same as the EX48x as far as LED behavior.

With the 47x series, if you added a drive as NOT part of the pool, it would be pink. You could also see yellow with the Easter egg option. With the 48x I`m hear they are different shades of blue depending if they are added to the pool or not.

I really must be going colour blind, mine are purple when not in the pool... and as for yellow!

I think the colors are just different up in Canada. ;)

Diehard, on the EX47x there are two LEDs for the drives - one blue and one red. Together they form a purple color which is displayed before the system is set up or when a drive is ready to be added to or removed from the pool.

In the EX48x the two LEDs are "aqua" (aka light blue) and red, together forming a weird soft pinkish thing. The drive bays blink when a drive is ready to be added to or removed from the pool.

The EX49x is the same as the EX48x.
