I will tell two items of concern.
The back plane removal must be done very carefully.
And the top cover is a royal pain if it is the first time to get it to release.

Also, the two tiny screws in the front cover (make sure you have the correct screwdriver and are firm with it till the screw cracks loss) or you will strip them out and then have a real mess.
Getting the front cover back on takes a little wiggling on the left side till you get it just right for the screws to line back up on the right or the door will not want to close right.

Ditto on the top, if you force it UP to much, it will break the tab off that holds it on.
Ditto on the backplane, hold down on the top with one hand to keep it from flying up to hard and breaking off parts.
Reach inside with the other hand to put up pressure on it.

Once you have done it correctly it is pretty easy.

Can I ask why you are taking apart? CPU or Ram upgrade? New Power supply maybe?

Good luck and shout out if something is not going the way you think it should.

Looks like my 495 with the light that stays on is broken. I want to see if there is anything obvious inside that might be causing it, e.g. a burnt resister or capacitor etc.

Most of the time (especially if it hasn't been opened up before) the power supply will go.
I keep a couple extra on hand just in case as I have replaced 2 on 2 different servers.
But while it's open would be a great time to get a can of air blaster and clean out the dust and dust bunnies that can also give you problems. Some collect faster then others depending on what part of the world you live in.

Here in Wyoming we get mostly dust, but it is dry and cool so heat and moisture are not a problem.

Good luck to you.
I always recommend trying to pickup a second server (Ebay maybe) to have on hand for spare parts, if you are going to stick with the server for awhile.

Some are Looking at NAS and Cloud storage, I will stick with the servers so I have spare power supplies, spare drives, spare servers for parts.

Good luck, I hope it is something easy.
It could be a bad system drive, do you have the FREE Smart addin so you know what shape your drives are in?
Shout out if we can help.... or you have more questions.
