Hi all,

Well according to most posts out there it is meant to be easy right! Think again! In short l have no end of issues and am at the point of drop kicking my WHS! This is my issue.

I loaded DNS onto the box a while back and since then, well it gradually slowed right down. Fair enough. I went through the reboot/restore sequence, and the unit just left the health and system icons Red. So l bought the header that connects directly to MB. Rebooted, and the unit now has screen output and l proceeded to restore unit. However, not quite according to the manual as the unit would not go into reboot mode. So this is what l did.

Configured WHS to boot from PXE. Connected Laptop to WHS via CAT5. Started WHS until PXE initialized and searching IP. Started Laptop Server Recovery DVD on laptop via Power Iso (As Surface Pro has no DVD). WHS loaded PXE image, installed and started. Great! But issue is that Media Console will not start and despite going for a Factory reset, the unit appears to have software issues. Further more, it has not loaded up the additional 3 HDD bay drives.

Any ideas? Lord knows l am at the the end of my tether!

well I think you have a few unknown issues.
We don't know what model server you have, as well as when you say whs 2003 media console, Do you mean whsv1?
Anyway it is a well known fact that the server is very fickle when it comes to the drives.
As well as recovery/reset.

Even is a working system the console may report the drives are healthy even though they are not.
If you have the smart addin it will tell the whole story.

My 2 cents. Pull the drives connect them to a pc and run chkdsk at the very least.
Or install smart for a pc with a 30 day trial and test them.
