I have two USB external drives (both Seagate 1TB) and have plugged them into the EX490 but they do not show on the Windows Home Server. I have tried restarting the machine - unplugging and replugging them but nothing. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for in order to get these drives recognised?

what is the make and model of the usb drive?
I assumed what model you have and here is what I found.

It appears that it is pre formatted via gpt .
follow directions for changing it to support xp 32bit.
