Yes, that will work just fine. Make sure you put the System Drive in the bottom drive bay.

Hi Mobile PC welcome to the forums!

May I ask what's wrong with your original EX495 and do you need help troubleshooting it?

No, actually they are all working fine. I am a tech, and I have 18 of these running my customers businesses. I bought 2 more on E bay. I have a couple of customers that want to have a back up of the physical hardware. They are concerned that it will fail. And they don't want to have to pay alot more money to get another alternative.

Good to know. I had this exact same thought tonight walking my dog as my files are copying from one of my (removed) pool drives to a spare hdd, following a blinking aqua light, new system drive, and failed recovery. I'll give the recovery another try, then a reset once i get all the data off. A spare box would be nice as they are not too bad on ebay, and i like the functionality of the MSS. Just swapping drives would make switching out a breeze in case of hardware failure.

I'll do ya one better then that, I have a x510 as my main server then I have a second x510 setup the same except for the remote access, I setup synctoy on the first one to sync the data to the second one every 3 days. That way if the first one goes bad I can switch to the second one, reinstall the connector software on all the clients and go.
I also have extra hardware for down the road which has come from ebay, I figure it will last me till I find/build a real server and switch to win2012essentials down the road.

Anyway, I am a big fan of having extra parts. :encore:
