These drives run hotter 110-115 F, I adjusted the temp in SMART to stop all the warnings. Is there any way to increase the fan speed via bios? I see the question being asked but no conclusive answers via the video cable bios route. I would buy the cable if I knew you can increase the fan speeds to have cooler hard drive temps.

Yes you can change the fan speed via the debug board in bios.
It is not a simple edit since it uses pwm on a pid loop.
So there are a few settings to play with to control it.
But then you also have to go by fan speed versus fan noise if you change it to much.
So there is some give and take for temperature control.
In my case the black drives run 5c cooler and I stopped there because the fans got so loud.
So in stock the fans were at 1200rpm. even though the drive got to 50c.
Now the fans start at 1400rpm and the black drive is at 45c tops.
But the fans ramp up faster now.

Also fyi,
The drives temps vary by how close they are to the cpu. So the lower they are in the bays the hotter they run.

So what settings did you change in bios. I heard is was not straight forward but rather a % or something. I don't mind the noise as it just sits in the den. Do you have any screen shots of the bios fan settings you changed?

No I don't have screen shots.
but I know I played with the rise settings.
There are several to choose from cause like I said it is a pid algorithm.
But I do recall I had to go to two screens to change it.
one screen was to turn off the auto default. Then the second screen was enabled for me to make changes.

Well I had a USB fan laying around at the office so I took one home and taped it to the front pushing air in and wow. The temps dropped big time.

drive bay 0 = 38 Celsius
drive bay 1 = 37 Celsius
drive bay 2 = 37 Celsius
drive bay 3 = 38 Celsius

Just need to use some thin wire to tie the fan on and I think that will work just fine. Thanks for all your help. If someday you do venture back into bios, some screen shots would be great of what your settings are to increase fan speed.
