Hi,

Have a Ex490 machine and have tried lights out aswell as the sleep section in the MSS itself.

It sends the machine to sleep but when it wakes up it does not do it fully and the health light does not come on. I need to reset it for this to work.

Any ideas what is causing this?

thanks

Utilizing the servers sleep mode has been written about over the years in the forums. I am certain if you perform a site search you will find quite alot has been written about putting an MSS to sleep and hopefully you will find a solution which works for you.

Personally I never put my servers to sleep and the cost to running them is not even noticable especially when my HVAC system is running.

This is a known bug in the MSS coding - at least with the eX49x and DataVault series. The specific problem is linked to how the MSS software sets the sleep time. I won't bore you with the specifics, but suffice it to say that it'll sleep and wake up usually for the first cycle after you set the times, but from then on it won't wake up. The is no workaround other than to install the Lights Out add-in. HP was made aware of the bug, but they killed the MSS and its development team before they were able to provide a fix.
