I just completed a new Norco build and I am having a problem. I was successful with a new install with two data drives and the system ran for about a week...while I waited for some replacement parts. I tried a system recovery and could not get the drivers to load after F6.

I loaded the drivers onto a 1.44 floppy and the WHS system keeps telling me that the txtsetup.oem file could not be found. When I take the disc back to my desk computer the whole file is corrupt and the disc is unusable. I'm lost with this. I've tried two different drives and even bought some new discs. Could there be a setting in the bios that needs to be changed? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have you tried loading the drivers on a USB Flash Drive? They work great for providing drivers.

When loading WHS in a recovery, the only option the program gives is the a: drive. How do you redirect it to find a usb drive?

Its been a while since I installed the WHS OEM but it shoulld give you the option to BROWSE and then you should be able to guide it to the connected Flash Drive. As I recall its a straight forward process.

Not if you are doing a server recovery.

Initially, it does let you browse and even add the drivers through a cd drive. But with a server recovery you have to reinstall the drivers and it only gives you the F6 option and then you can only add them through a floppy....

Unless someone else knows another way??????

You are correct. The only way to add drivers after F6 is from a floppy. One thing i want to ask, you had the system running fine and then decided to do a recovery, by any change did you reformated the hard driver? I hope so, if you didnt do that first.

Thanks Cubanblood. Yes I did have it up and running and then attempted a recovery. I remember that Dbone had a problem and I did indeed reformat the the Main drive.

I may have solved the problem....I did a new install of WHS and then reformatted the floppies in the Norco and put the drivers on them from the cds in the Norco.

I am again attempting a recovery and have been able to successfully add the drivers at F6. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Sounds like one of your floppy drives, either the one in your computer or the one in the Norco, is out of alignment. This would reult in disks formatted in one not being readable in the other.

Randy,

I agree...it would appear that way. But both drives work in the Norco. It's either Win7 or the desktop...I would guess. I was blaming it on the Norco originally.

I've completed a server recovery and successfully transferred the data to the new system. I need some help troubleshooting a problem. I've got smart data from the Gigabyte Amd motherboard...but for some reason, the smart data from the second SASLP-MV8 does not show up in Disk Management. I switched the card locations and that did not change anything. The card in the second slot does not show the data. Anybody have any suggestions on troubleshooting (I did have data on both cards during set-up).

I have the same issue and have been told there is nothing I can do about it. See the thread dated May 12 on this site.

Thanks Cappy1...

It bothers me that some builds get the info and others do not.
In my case, I'm getting smart data on my MB sata ports in IDE mode while others did not.

I respect Walkabt's wealth of knowlege and opinion...but it still bothers me.

Join the club. I only get smart data for direct MB connected drives. Has to do with the raid drivers.
