They were the basic generic type from FrozenCPU.com

Each harness took

3x 4pin female molex end termination
10x 4pin female molex pass through
1x female sata pass through
1x female sata end termination

1ft 1/4" shrink tubing ( I used a lot )
2ft 1/4" black sleaving (Don't worry it expands to a very big size nearly an inch, smaller better)
18awg wire (if you use one color as I did be sure to have a continuity meter as once the sleave is on you will loose track of which wire is which and this is why it took so long.)

Check every thing two or three times = Zero smoke or having to redo everything.
Leave a little wiggle room between connectors too hard to plug in if they are very tight.

I found a pair of small square nose pliers (3mm nose) a great tool to seat the wire, but gripping those little parts very hard makes your hands sore for a couple of days.

Any chance of getting you to post links to these items? I just spent some time at FrozenCPU.com and can't find the pass through connectors. Thanks.

Looks like they are out of stock, for black - maybe available in a different color:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/7616/ ... tl=g51c387

You have to mark if you want pass through or end caps. It is the first link off of the CONNECTORS > 4 PIN > MOLEX

They have different colors.
But here's the link http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9256/ele-482/Standard_4_Pin_Low_Profile_Easy_Install_Connector_w_Cover_-_UV_Blue.html?tl=g44c155s642#options

But if you want a different color look for the check box when you go to "configure and order"

Thanks guys - I saw those low profile connectors, but missed the pass through cap option...

So it looks like putting all the parts together is fairly easy, just time consuming. I'll check what my power supply (CORSAIR CMPSU-750HX) uses for the modular connectors then order the parts.

Well the Silenx fans arrived today oddly enough they are about the same noise level of the Sythe fans at 40%.
The docs do say to give them a week to break in, so I will do that I tried to heat up the thermocouple to see if there was a decernable speed change nope none that I could tell nor was there an appearant air flow change.
So I will borrow my bro's optical rpm sensor and air mass sensor for a reality check.
There better be a perception issue here or I'm sending them back as they were not cheap.

I will keep you posted perhaps they just need to break in a bit.

Well for the first time in two months, The Beast is 100% hardware/software complete.
What a build.

Issues along the way were.
Sata controllers and mis-information.
SMART Data missing.
Video cards and sleep mode.
WoW (wake on Wan) HORRIBLE DOES NOT WORK.
Eval Lic upgrade would not activate had to do recovery.
Fans, I still feel the Ultra Kaze fans with some sort of auto controller would be a better choice.
to me they seem to have the same sound level and put out more air.
But I have left the Silenx fans in for now to see how they fair, but come summer if it gets too hot the Scythes are going back in.

And the only nagg problem I couldn't fix I have a hard drive that the activity light stays on solid.
I've tested it and it's the hard drive not the backplane, so it will eventually get swapped out.

Ultimately my goals of a super expandable do every job I could think of box is a reality.
It currently does.
Standard WHS stuff web, files shareing, etc..
I also have it doing
Movie hosting(myMovies), FTP/VPN (filezilla change your ports/passwords), security camera hosting (blue iris), TV/DVR functions (hd homerun).

Total cost a bit over $4000, due to little add-ins not in the original plans, could have easily stayed under $3500.

I may try to get it to do home power management as well.

And to view my movie collection anywhere I use a Slingbox Pro HD through a HDMI>Componnent converter remote controlling an HTPC.

BTW, if anyone has issues of their HTPC being jumpy in the mymovies menu while scrolling.
I greatly reduced this by bumping my Acer x1200 to a amd2 6000+ 3ghz proc with 4GB of ram.
I have some x3200's and three x1200's it worked on all three they are now better performers than the amd3 x3200 stock systems.

I hope this build helps anyone trying to have fun.
I will keep monitoring this thread for questions or feedback.

Ok I suppose I should give a little info on myself.
I worked in the heart of Silicon Valley for well over 25yrs as a Support analyst/System Administrator/consultant etc..
Even did a couple of stints at HP, Stanford, TiVo.
A few years ago decided to slow down a bit, now I am the Network Administrator for a Central Valley Hospital just playen with stuff.

I thought it was great to see folks here stepping out of their comfort zone to try things others either felt too difficult or without warrant so.

Thanks again to Cavediver, DBone, Erail, and of course the mediasmartserver team.

Any chance you would sell made up Power wire setups like you did yourself ? I think i heard of cavediver thinking about it. Thought i read it somewhere. Would be a nice solution like the Fan Board for us that have a Norco and want to run their power in a safe manner.

Once again your build is something else. I am in aww when i see the pictures with the 2 Norcos stacked in the Rack.

Thanks it was a fun project.
The next one will likely be a extra small silent HTPC.
I just need to see what the state of the art is at the moment.

I didn't sidestep the question. Ok maybe a little

I think CaveDiver has it covered and didn't want to pee in another mans yard.

The parts are likely to be pricey as I paid over $50 for mine and I think Cavediver paid a similar price.
Throw in the 2-4hrs to do a good job, and the variables that would need to be worked out.
Someone would have to be willing to pay a silly price for a power cable to buy one.

Besides I didn't want to deprive you fella's of all that fun.

Haha too funny. I did not think ya sidestepped the question. Ah well now like ya said maybe a little. I know that Cavediver had mentioned making the power cables and selling them. I would not want you to piss in anothers yard. Just i think we have all seen what you and Cavediver have done with the Norco's and the power cable would be a nice upgrade for us on the forum that do not feel comfortable putting one together.

No disrespect to Cavediver by any means though. I think most of us just want to see one become available. Like i had said to Cavediver though. Give it some thought and keep us on the forum posted if either you or Cavediver put one together.

I have to ask ya a question. How heavy was it when ya had to pick up The Beast ? I know my 1 Norco has some good weight to it. I could only imagine what 2 together must feel like
