@Erail, Are you going to do any kind of replication from site A to site B?
If so how do you plan to do this, shadowcopy?
Just curious how other might deal with a multisite situation.
Does you isp impose a data cap?
Will you become grey waiting for a blu-ray to copy etc...

Yes, what I have been doing for the last couple of years, is using an MSS that I have designated as a transfer server and carting it back and forth. I use synctoy 2.1 to echo the files on the transfer server to the server which hasn't been updated in six months. I really have to find a better way to do it and then just use the MSS units as backup units for the main servers. I don't keep the sites open simultaneously, so any automated update is not in the cards.
As far as I know the ISP in Florida caps at 250 gigs a month, but not sure of that. It's Comcast. The NY one has no caps.
A blue ray copies in about 10 mins, never timed it but it isn't extremely long. I just loaded 2 terabytes of data on the Superwhsii in around 2 days. Didn't bother and look at the transfer data rate, but it went from one segment of my network to another segment which has a 10/100 switch between 2 gig switches.
If you have any ideas for replicating data between the two let me know. Right now I'm looking at Second Copy and it looks promising because it will copy everything from a certain date on.

You can always try placing a non pool drive on your system.
Then use Xcopy to keep that drive up to date.
You have a lot of choices of only new file use an exclude list etc..
Easy to create by doing a "Dir x: > C:\list.txt" you can even do a little Dos scripting here.
This is how I manage my recorded TV from my HTPC's to my server.
And then I use a script on my server to scan the directory for files older than "X" and remove them.
Obviously if you have series you want to keep you move those to a different folder.

What I will probably wind up doing is copy new files added in FL to usb drives and then copy them to the NY WHS system. I have a few months to figure it out.

Well, I used Ymboc's process to clone a systems drive and it worked like a charm. I went from a 2.5" WD Scorpio 250 gig to a Kingston 128 gig SSD using Acronis 10 Home and Ymboc's process, it was easy to follow and worked without a hitch. So capacity now on SUPERWHSII is 18 drives. 1 SSD system drive, 15 hot swap pool drives driven off of 2 AOC-SAT2-MV8's and 2 internal application drives in a raid 1 config using a 3Ware 8600 card. I have an Esata port to run additional drives. I install all applications to the raid so if I have to recover the WHS server I can still run the apps.

Nice, glad to hear the system drive clone worked well for you! :)

SuperwhsII has been running flawlessly, handling all I can throw at it. However, always looking for more, I upgraded the processors to AMD Opteron 290's. So the system now has 4 cores running at 2.8ghz and we shall see it the difference is noticable. This about tops out the system with the current motherboard. Both processors have cpu to cpu communications and 8 gig of memory - bring on Vail.

One thing I noticed with the AMD 290's is that powernow was not working on the Supermicro H8DAE and as a result cpu temps were running up into the 50'sC. I contacted Supermicro Tech Support and worked with Adam Kim, within one week I had a new bios to try and it works great. It brought the whole machine temps down significantly. The CPU's went from 53C to 28C, the motherboard temp went from 46C to 32C and the power supplies went from 52C to 41C. I did not realize how much of an impact speedstep/powernow has on the well being of the total system. I am really sold now on Supermicro and how they stand behind their products.

@erail

How's the onboard video that came with the motherboard? I'm thinking of getting this server setup as well... I've looked at building a system with Norco case but the total cost for components are bit on the high end (excluding the drives).

I really couldn't tell you how the onboard video is. I very seldom ever use it and when I do it is just for setup with an old flat planel monitor. It's a fairly old ATI Rage XL 8mb chipset with a VGA socket so I expect it's certainly not state of the art but for server setup and anything else you want to do with the server it's fine. It's not HD movie quality. Unless you can pick up a nice condition used machine, this build will cost a ton more than the NORCO, you also have to remember that there is no Sata on the H8DAE, all sata comes from addin cards which you need at least 2 AOC-SAT2-MV8's for the PC-X slots and there are no PC Express slots. I running 4 cores at 2.8 ghz and it is really quick. This machine is now running Vail with 17 drives and a 128gig SSD as the system drive. It has 8gig of memory so it's very quick.

Cool. Thanx alot for the info on the onboard video. I'll be just using for setup. I've found a used/good condition case on ebay and I'm thinking of picking one up.

There are a couple of good deals on ebay currently;

http://cgi.ebay.com/Supermicro-SC933T-R760B-Server-Chassis-Rack-Mountable-/400103172591?cmd=ViewItem&pt=COMP_EN_Networking_Components&hash=item5d2801e9ef
used, $360 incl freight

http://cgi.ebay.com/SuperMicro-SC933T-R760-CSE-933T-R760B-3U-15-Bay-Chassis-/330430445272?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cef3076d8
new, $427 incl freight

Also the chassis doesn't come with a motherboard so you can use a ATX or EATX motherboard that meets your requirements, along with add-in boards.

I am tempted to jump on one of these systems as they look top notch.
